Concrete Sealer Decisions...
Don't settle for marketing
hype when picking a concrete sealer. Begin by asking, "What do I
want my sealer to do?"
Start by asking yourself these questions: ......
• Do I want a concrete
sealer to darken my concrete and create a wet look?
• Do I want my concrete
to have a shine after sealing it?
• Is it okay if
I have to reapply it every so often?
If you answered, "YES"
to these questions then you want a "coating based sealer"
and you've found the correct sealer page... want?

Do you need a Penetrating
Concrete Sealer Instead?
The coating based sealers
on this page do not penetrate deep within the surface, they are
"coatings." However, your use may call for more of a penetrating
sealer. How do you know?
Choose a penetrating
sealer if you want to:
• Minimize maintenance
- these penetrate the surface and become a permanent part of the
concrete. They tend toward easier installation.
• Leave concrete natural
looking. These dry flat and clear. *(Except for the MS7, it
can be polished to a shine.)
• Minimize slippage concerns - Because penetrater
soak in, the don't change the slip factor at all.
• Slow moisture and stain
penetration.
• Harden or make your
concrete stronger - penetrating chemically reactive sealers
can actually change the PSI, or strength of concrete.

COATING BASED CONCRETE SEALERS
A coating based sealer protects your concrete by
not allowing contaminants or other potentially damaging items to
get to your concrete surface. In other words, they have to get through
the coating before they can impact your concrete. Coating based
concrete sealers can protect your concrete from freeze thaw damage,
salts, or depending upon the strength of the coating, even abrasion,
harmful acid or even nitrate chemistries. To understand how a coating
based concrete sealer works, just imagine that you are laying a
"blanket" or coating over the surface of the concrete.
How well it seals and how long it lasts depends upon the "strength"
of the material you are using.

Mighty
Seal - MS3, is a long lasting sealer that
adds luster to your concrete. Use Mighty Seal - MS3 when you want
to deepen the color of your concrete and create more of a
shine. With it you can achieve a "wet look"
enhancing your pavers, stamped concrete drive way,
or decorative pool deck.
MS3 is non-yellowing, and has the
highest active ingredients solids available 30%! Remember,
the higher the solid content on an acrylic the better. If budget
is a concern, this sealer will give you longer lasting protection
at a reasonable price. Don't sweat the new EPA regulations
either. This one is waterborne, so you won't have any trouble getting
the look and performance you want while meeting EPA guidelines.

MightySeal MSE, is a two part, thin spread,
extra long lasting epoxy coating. MSE will create a shinier,
but extremely tough surface.
This is the one to use when you are
concerned about harmful chemistries... such as battery acid,
gasoline, or tire imprints. It is available in
clear, or your choice of color. Excellent oilophobic
response makes it great for garage floors, but it is also used in
warehouse environments where chemical resistance and the
ability to stand up to forklift traffic is a must. It can
also be used on stamped or stained concrete, if concrete
is neutralized before sealing. This epoxy coating is not your standard
department store "paint" with a little epoxy thrown in...
its is a TRUE high end 2 party epoxy system. Use this one when budget
isn't the primary concern, but longevity is.

Mighty
Seal MSU, is a two part polyurethane
with the longest lasting abrasion resistance we've been able
to find anywhere! ASTM test data is available upon request.
Originally, this was designed to be used in labs where chemical
resistance was a must. Later it became the favorite top coat
of choice for those in the flooring industry looking for
the longest lasting products they could find. It has a durable
thin build appearance and can be used over stamped concrete,
colored concrete (if acids are properly neutralized) and
your basic everyday rough finish stuff. Use this when you want
a coating with the least amount of reapplication possible. Again
this is a true 2 part system where the focus is on longer term
performance. This is not your bargain basement priced seal...
Concrete Countertop Designers Discover MSU, the most
recent discovery of MSU has been from professionals in the concrete
countertop industry. They have discovered this is the most
bullet proof concrete countertop sealer they've run across.
This is a thin spreading material, so it doesn't look like a
"chunk" on top. In fact, most guys swear its a penetration
sealer after its applied. It is available in a range from hi-gloss
to near matte finishes. It is waterborne, FDA compliant and
used in a variety of food prep areas!
